Ryan Tannehill to attend Heath Evans 7 on 7; two area schools added to field

By Jeff Greer

With the area’s premier 7-on-7 football tournament two days away, the Heath Evans Foundation announced the expected appearance of a potentially big draw for area football fans.

Recent Dolphins first-round draft pick Ryan Tannehill, a quarterback out of Texas A&M and possibly Miami’s future franchise signal caller, will attend Saturday’s 7-on-7 tournament at King’s Academy. He’ll be accompanied by Cleveland Browns tight end Benjamin Watson, a former teammate of Evans.

The tournament, which begins with round-robin pool play at 9 a.m. and concludes with a 4 p.m. title game, also added two more local schools to the field. John I. Leonard and Wellington join Dwyer, Palm Beach Central, Palm Beach Gardens and host King’s Academy as the Palm Beach County teams participating.

Atlantic was scheduled to compete, but pulled out due to players taking the ACT test Saturday. Hollywood-Chaminade, Weston-Cypress Bay and Miami-Edison backed out for the same reason.
