George McCartin resigns as St. Andrew’s football coach

By Jeff Greer

George McCartin resigned Friday as St. Andrew’s head football coach.

McCartin cited health reasons when he spoke to players and administrators, St. Andrew’s Athletic Director Craig Ashley said in an email to the Post. His departure comes before the program moves into the new Southeastern Football Conference, a fledgling league of independent private schools in South Florida that also includes Benjamin and Pope John Paul II. The Scots lost their spring game 17-0 against Forest Hill and finished 5-5 last fall.

McCartin also resigned his Middle School Athletic Director position, Ashley said. He was 45-42 in eight seasons as head football coach.
