Suncoast alum Tony McQuay is headed to London.

McQuay, a junior at Florida, placed second in the 400 at the U.S. Olympic track trials in 44.49 seconds, placing him on the Olympic team.

McQuay won the 400 at the NCAA championships earlier this month.

Olympic gold medalist LaShawn Merritt won the event in 44.12, the world’s best time this season. Bryshon Nellum of Southern California was third in 44.80.

All three will represent the U.S. at the Summer Olympics, which begin July 27.
