Seminole Ridge duo Omar Pierre-Louis, Jason Shepherd commit to Bowling Green

By Jeff Greer

The MAC is back in Palm Beach County, and one of its more active area recruiters has found in-roads at Seminole Ridge.

Bowling Green, one of the Mid-American Conference’s most aggressive Florida recruiters, secured verbal commitments from two Seminole Ridge stars, Omar Pierre-Louis and Jason Shepherd, just before the start of fall football practice. BGSU signed Dwyer defensive tackle Mike Minns last season, and Dwyer’s Darrell Hunter and American Heritage’s Herve Coby in 2011.

Pierre-Louis and Shepherd are currently the only Seminole Ridge seniors to be verbally committed; highly sought-after defensive tackle Kyle Shortridge briefly pledged this summer to Wake Forest before backing off the commitment a day later. Several other seniors, including safety Mike Almonte, linebacker Rayfield Dixon and athlete Elie Turene, are also expected to sign with Division I programs.

Pierre-Louis (5-11, 180) will likely play cornerback and special teams in college, and has verbal scholarship offers from 13 schools, including FAU, Tulane and UCF. Shepherd (6-1, 220) is a speedy weakside defensive end and could play outside linebacker in college. He has verbal offers from eight programs, such as Central Michigan and Tulane.
