Former Boca Raton RB Keith Byars at Milford Academy in New York

By Jeff Greer

It was a question that a lot of people asked over the past six months: What happened to former Boca running back Keith Byars II?

The Class of 2012 back was recruited by several big-name programs and claimed more than 10 scholarship offers, but his status as a qualifier out of high school was in question. He didn’t sign on national signing day and never responded to several questions about his recruiting.

Well, finally, here’s your answer: Byars has matriculated to Milford Academy in New York, a prep school known for its football. He had three carries for 12 yards in the school’s first game.

Byars struggled with injuries in high school, but still ran for 655 yards and nine touchdowns as a senior. He rushed for 484 yards for seven touchdowns as a junior.
