Female quarterback from Broward could make Florida football history

By Matt Porter

Fun story from Broward County: the third-string quarterback at South Plantation High could be the first female to see action at quarterback in an FHSAA regular-season football game.

Erin DiMeglio, 17, hopes to get in the game Friday against Davie-Nova. She has been practicing with South Plantation since May and saw preseason action last week against Seminole Ridge, completing two passes.

Read more about DiMeglio in this story from the Sun Sentinel.

Florida football has seen female kickers, wide receivers and defensive backs. The next time South Plantation goes ahead by a few touchdowns, their third-string QB could make history.
