Virginia Tech reinstates former Atlantic DE Dadi Nicolas

The recent trouble for Virginia Tech defensive end Dadi Nicolas appears to be over.

Nicolas, known as Wedley Estime when he played for Atlantic, was reinstated by the Hokies after a on Thursday after a Virginia court reduced his charges, the Virginian-Pilot reported

Nicolas, a redshirt freshman, was suspended by Virginia Tech following his arrest on grand larceny stemming from a May bicycle-stealing incident.

On Thursday, Nicolas’ second-degree felony charge was reduced to a misdemeanor.

“I have reviewed the the matter and reinstated Dadi Nicolas as an active member of the Virginia Tech football team,” Virginia Tech Athletics Director Jim Weaver said in a statement.

Nicolas must perform 125 hours of community service, the Virginian-Pilot reported.

Nicolas, who is listed at 6-foot-2 and 223 pounds, did not play last season and ended the spring in the mix for playing time at defensive end.

Nicolas, who legally changed his name after high school, had 70 tackles, 11 sacks, four forced fumbles and two pass breakups his senior year at Atlantic. He was a Palm Beach Post All-Area honorable mention selection.
