Flo Rida approved: Atlantic’s insane uniforms inspire Miami-Carol City to get its own

By Matt Porter

Atlantic’s creative uniforms have created a monster.

After seeing the national buzz over the Eagles’ “neon nightmare” uniforms, Miami-Carol City wants in. On behalf of one of its most famous alums, rapper Flo Rida, the school contacted the same Delray Beach firm that designed Atlantic’s duds.

Coming next fall: these things.

According to a Futuristic Woo press release, Flo Rida contacted the design firm on behalf of his alma mater, which is celebrating its 50th anniversary next year.

Carol City’s nickname is the Chiefs, so Woo came up with a futuristic space chief design, replete with an new version of Carol City’s logo splashed across the front of the pants. They will wear them beginning in 2013.

The new unis will be manufactured by Youso Apparel, the manufacturing company owned by Futuristic Woo’s Ryan Boylston, and will be donated by Flo Rida and his record company, IMG Strong Arm.

According to Boylston, he has a waiting list of high schools under consideration to receive his designs in 2013. His next project is a Utah school that will celebrate its 100th anniversary.

Everyone’s a Critic Dept.: Personally, I’m not too high on the uniforms themselves. What’s with the chief on the players’ laps? I like the color scheme. But just like with Atlantic’s design, the helmets are the real stars. Bold, detailed feathers that blend in with the shape of the helmet. Very nice.

Aside from Flo Rida, Carol City’s most famous alums are rapper Rick Ross and Washington Redskins wide receiver Santana Moss. Wonder what they think.

While Moss obviously has the chief motif covered, we’d like to formally ask Youso Apparel to hurry up and make a custom-cut jersey for Rozay. He needs one. Now.
