Southeastern Football Conference to play title game at FAU

By Jeff Greer

Matt Dillon wanted to do something special to cap off the inaugural season of the Southeastern Football Conference.

“We made our league dues what it is to make it happen,” said Dillon, the head coach at Pope John Paul II and chairman of the SFC.

Make what happen? Holding next Saturday’s SFC title game at FAU Stadium, a costly venture but one Dillon said it worth the money. Not only is it a major venue for the league’s maiden championship game, it’ll also be the first high school game at FAU’s new stadium, which opened last fall. FAU officially confirmed the use of its venue early Saturday morning.

An added plus for the SFC is the local presence in the championship game: Benjamin takes its 9-1 record to FAU Stadium to play Fort Lauderdale-Pine Crest at 7 p.m. Benjamin beat Pine Crest 41-26 on Oct. 12.
