Former Grandview Prep hoops star Ismaila Dauda commits to Cleveland State

By Jeff Greer

Ismaila Dauda spent most of his high school career committed to Miami, but an academic credit snafu from his freshman year (and Miami’s coaching change) altered his path to Polk State College. No one ever doubted he’d end up signing with a Division I program.

Dauda, a 6-foot-9 sophomore at Polk State, said Tuesday night he’d committed to Cleveland State. The Nigerian-born center picked Cleveland State over Charlotte and Marshall. Southern Miss and FIU also recruited Dauda, who is a natural shot blocker with long arms and a soft touch around the rim.

He averaged 8.4 points and 6.9 rebounds as a freshman at Polk State after making back-to-back Post All-Area teams at Grandview Prep. At Cleveland State, he’ll compete against Jupiter alum Bobby Hain, who’s at Youngstown State and plays in the Horizon League.
