Brian Joros out as Royal Palm Beach baseball coach

By Matt Porter

One of the area’s most successful baseball coaches, Royal Palm Beach’s Brian Joros, has been removed as coach following legal trouble outside of school.

Royal Palm Beach Principal Jesus Armas, in a statement to The Post, said Joros will remain as a teacher until a DUI case from July is settled. Joros was arrested last week on obstruction of justice charges related to the case, which stems from an arrest in Osceola County. He was also arrested on DUI charges in 2010.

“In the best interest of Royal Palm Beach High School Brian Joros is released from his duties as head baseball coach effective immediately,” Armas said. “As far as his teaching position is concerned we will continue to monitor the result of his court proceedings and will follow district protocol as we have throughout.”

Fox29 on Tuesday night showed an interview with a former Royal Palm Beach baseball parent, who wondered why Joros was allowed to coach at the school given his legal issues. The woman’s son now attends another school.

Contacted Wednesday regarding the situation, Joros did not offer comment.

Joros, who coached at West Boca Raton and Boynton Beach before taking over at Royal Palm Beach in 2011, last season guided the Wildcats to a district title.
