American Heritage S Darrion Richardson commits to SMU

By Matt Porter

American Heritage’s signing day ceremony was already going to be a big event. After this weekend, we have a much clearer picture of what it might look like.

Senior safety Darrion Richardson committed to Southern Methodist on Sunday, becoming the fourth Stallions player to commit to an FBS program.

Teammates Greg Bryant (Notre Dame), Roderick Johnson (Florida) and Xavier Swinton (Miami of Ohio) gave their commitments earlier in the day. In November, linebackers Evan Harvey (Lehigh) and Jake Giordano (Miami of Ohio) made their plans known.

Richardson, a 6-foot, 195-pound safety rated two stars by several recruiting services, said he also considered Cincinnati, Marshall and UMass. He decided his choice on an official visit to SMU this weekend.

Richardson was a part of a Heritage defense that allowed 8.08 points and 115.4 yards per game, both second-best in the area.
