Seminole Ridge DT Kyle Shortridge commits to Louisville

By Jeff Greer

Perhaps this will be the end of Kyle Shortridge’s long and winding recruiting process, which has seen him verbally commit to three different colleges in five months.

Shortridge, a graduating senior at Seminole Ridge, pledged his college football services to Louisville on Monday, a day after returning from his official visit to the school’s campus. The 6-foot-2, 280-pound defensive tackle dropped his commitment to Purdue the Sunday after Thanksgiving after the Boilermakers dismissed head coach Danny Hope, and chose Louisville over Iowa State, Michigan State, Nebraska and Purdue.

Vanderbilt, Penn State, Connecticut and several other programs were still in the hunt for the massive lineman, who originally committed to Wake Forest in July. In addition to Louisville, which he visited with teammate Rayfield Dixon, Shortridge took official visits to Wake Forest, Purdue and Nebraska.

Shortridge (No. 8 on the PBGametime Big Board) became a major Division I prospect after a breakout junior season at Seminole Ridge. He was the devastatingly bullish tackle in the middle of Ridge’s ferocious defensive line, which also featured Bowling Green commit Jason Shepherd rushing off the edge and helped Ridge this fall reach its first regional final in program history.
