Fort Pierce Central RB Marcus Levy decommits from Cincinnati

By Matt Porter

A coaching change at Cincinnati has Fort Pierce Central running back Marcus Levy re-thinking his options.

Levy (5-11, 185, No. 11 on the Big Board) committed to the Bearcats in large part because of former head coach Butch Jones. With Jones’ departure from the school last Friday, Levy is back on the market.

On his Twitter account (@Marc_Levy14) Monday evening, Levy said he was “opening my recruiting back up.” The news was first reported by TCPalm.com.

Fort Pierce Central coach Josh Shaffer said Tuesday morning there are no favorites to land his running back, who put up 809 yards and 16 touchdowns in an injury-shortened senior season. The Cobras (11-1) reached the Class 7A regional finals.

UCF, Bowling Green and Cincinnati met with Levy last week, before his decommitment. TCPalm reported Levy has had no contact with new Cincinnati coach Tommy Tuberville, formerly of Texas Tech.

In the past year, he been offered scholarships from Bowling Green, FIU, Kentucky, UMass, Mississippi State, South Carolina and Wake Forest. However, it’s unclear if any of those schools are currently in the market for him.

“We’re seeing who still has spots and is interested,” Shaffer said.
