Baseball: Royal Palm Beach promotes assistant Bart Wible to head coach

By Matt Porter

Royal Palm Beach was pleased with the course Brian Joros charted for its baseball program, so it didn’t want a change once Joros left.

So the Wildcats promoted longtime assistant Bart Wible, who was Joros’ assistant for five years at two different schools.

Wible, 32, spent the last two years under Joros at Royal Palm. He was at West Boca Raton for three years, with a year as Forest Hill’s head coach sandwiched in between.

“We felt he was the best choice to keep the moving going forward,” Royal Palm Beach Athletics Director Eric Patterson said. “We were very happy with the direction the program was moving in. The kids were working hard.”

Joros, 37, was removed as coach in November following legal trouble outside the school.

Wible, an Indiana native and Purdue grad, will keep the Wildcats’ staff intact. He did bring on a new pitching coach: former Texas Rangers and Boston Red Sox left-hander Kason Gabbard, a Royal Palm Beach alum.
