Softball: Palm Beach Gardens IF Tiffany Lower, Dwyer’s Kelsey Huff commit to colleges

By Jeff Greer

Tiffany Lower broke into high school softball quickly and without abandon, and it didn’t take long for her to become one of the most sought-after young players in Florida.

Lower, entering her sophomore season at Palm Beach Gardens, verbally committed to UCF last night, pledging to join former teammate Shelby Turnier in Orlando in three years. Lower was a first-team All-State selection after her freshman season, and made the Post’s All-County team, batting .475 with 13 stolen bases and 28 RBI.

“They were the first school on me and I felt comfortable with them,” said Lower, who will start the 2013 season at shortstop for Gardens.

Huff picks Florida Gulf Coast: Dwyer junior Kelsey Huff also made a verbal commitment on Thursday. She pledged to Florida Gulf Coast in Fort Myers.

Huff plays travel softball for the Lady Gators, who are coached by Lower’s Gardens coach Randy Jackson, and spent time at catcher and several other positions during the 2012 high school season.
