American Heritage’s Wright, Veccharella commit to St. Joe’s

By Matt Porter

American Heritage has a boatload of seniors looking to sign college scholarships on signing day. Two decided they’re headed to the same spot.

Stallions defensive back Colon Wright and running back Chad Veccharella committed to St. Joseph’s, a Division II school in Indiana. Last year, former Heritage linebacker Silmore Dallaway signed there.

Wright (6-0, 190) and Veccharella (5-11, 195) are the second pair of Heritage teammates that plans to sign at the same school. Miami (Ohio) received commitments from linebacker Jake Giordano and safety Xavier Swinton.

In total, 11 Stallions have committed to schools. Aside from those already mentioned: five-star running back Greg Bryant (Notre Dame), wide receiver Marcus Davis (Auburn), offensive tackle Roderick Johnson (Florida), tight end Tyler Provo (Syracuse), safety Darrion Richardson (Southern Methodist), linebacker Evan Harvey (Lehigh) and kicker Greg Joseph (Southeast Missouri State).

Defensive linemen Ronald Bell and Giancarlo Bennardo, tight end Isaac Leon, center Milton Michel, linebacker Josh Holley, cornerback Ka’Wan Pete and receiver Trey Castor are still weighing options.
