Kelvin Taylor, Keith Bryant named Parade All-Americans

By Jeff Greer

Kelvin Taylor may already be enrolled and taking classes at Florida, but the high school accolades for the star running back and son of Fred Taylor aren’t finished yet.

Taylor, Glades Day’s record-breaking rusher who is the Florida high school football’s all-time rushing leader, was named to the All-America Team by Parade magazine. Atlantic defensive tackle Keith Bryant, an uncommitted U.S. Army All-American, also made the magazine’s team.

Yulee running back Derrick Henry, whose team bested Glades Day on ESPN this past season, is the primary feature subject for Parade’s All-American insert. He broke high school football’s national career rushing record this past fall, surpassing legendary Texas running back Ken Hall. Statistics only compiled from ninth to 12th grade count toward the national record, which gives Henry the nod ahead of Taylor.

Florida State-bound lineman Ira Denson and Florida-bound cornerback Vernon Hargreaves III made the All-American first team. Keanu Neal, a defensive back from South Sumter High who has committed to Florida, made the honorable mention list with Taylor and Bryant, as did FSU-bound defensive lineman DeMarcus Walker from Jacksonville.
