Boys Soccer: American Heritage, Boca, Martin County in regional finals

By Jeff Greer

American Heritage, Boca Raton and Martin County soccer are in familiar territory.

Three of the area’s most accomplished soccer programs will play in regional finals tonight:

American Heritage (Class 2A) will play at Miami-Gulliver Prep. Heritage has played in every state semifinal in its class since 2004, with state titles in 2009 and 2011. Gulliver Prep owns four state championships, the last coming in 2006.

Boca Raton (5A) wants to make it four state appearances in five seasons, and Coral Springs-Taravella, state champs in 2003, stands in the way.

And don’t forget about Martin County (4A). The Tigers’ last regional final berth came in 2008, but they’ve played in four. They’re aiming for their third state appearance in program history, and newcomer Fort Lauderdale is Tuesday’s visitor.

Each game kicks off at 7 p.m. Admission is $7. The state semifinals this year will be held at campus sites. Only the state finals will be played at Melbourne High.
