Pope John Paul II sends five football players to colleges

Five Pope John Paul II football players and three athletes from other sports are headed to play in college.

Safety Bobby Lentz (Bryant), wide receiver Brock Turner (Sacred Heart), slot receiver Jarious Smith (Walsh, in Ohio), kicker Mike Cioci (preferred walk-on at Fordham) and offensive lineman Riley Drexler (Grinnell, a Division III school in Iowa) will play football at the next level.

Also signed: girls soccer standout Gabby Ligouri (North Florida), lacrosse player Ashley Bertrand (Manhattan) and golfer Will Devine, who accepted a preferred walk-on spot at Holy Cross.
