Report: Fort Pierce Westwood makes John Lima football coach

By Matt Porter

Fort Pierce Westwood has another new football coach, according to a tweet from TCPalm.com’s Jon Santucci.

The Panthers will hire John Lima, formerly of Brandon High. Lima was dismissed in 2011 after going 31-35 in six seasons.

Lima is Westwood’s fifth head coach since 2007. He replaces Gene Clemons, who was fired in January after going 2-15 in two years. Clemons took over for Rodrick Lawson, who was fired after a 9-1 season in 2010.

The Tampa Tribune reported Lima won the National Football Foundation and Hall of Fame’s coach of the year award in 2011 and 2007.

Fort Pierce Westwood will play the next two seasons in District 14-6A with Jensen Beach, Okeechobee, Port St. Lucie, South Fork and two Palm Bay teams (Bayside and Heritage).
