Former Palm Beach Central punter Pat O’Donnell to transfer to Miami for final season

By Jeff Greer

Cincinnati punter Pat O’Donnell will spend his final year in college athletics at the University of Miami.

O’Donnell, a 2009 graduate of Palm Beach Central, will graduate from Cincinnati at the end of this month and use his final year of football eligibility at Miami, which was in need of a punter. O’Donnell only used three years’ worth of eligibility at Cincinnati, averaging 42.6 yards a punt from 2010-12. O’Donnell (6-5, 222) was Cincinnati’s kickoff specialist the past two seasons.

Miami released a post-spring practice depth chart Tuesday that listed O’Donnell as its No. 1 punter and No. 2 kickoff specialist.

“He’s living his dream, playing for the University of Miami,” Palm Beach Central coach Rod Harris said. “He loved Cincinnati, but he was on his third coach in five years … Wait for those numbers to go up. He’s going to kick a warm ball in a warm atmosphere. He’s got NFL talent.”
