Dolphins set to host 6th annual 7-on-7 High School Football Tournament

One of South Florida’s more popular seven-on-seven events will be back for its sixth annual run this summer.

The Miami Dolphins announced today they’ll host the 7-on-7 High School Football Tournament next month, with games beginning Saturday, June 15, at Plantation Park in, you guessed it, Plantation. The quarterfinals start at 9 a.m. Sunday the 16th. The seven Sunday games will be played at Sun Life Stadium.

The Dolphins said in a release to the media Thursday more than 40 South Florida high school teams will participate in this year’s tournament. Among them: American, Archbishop Curley, Boyd Anderson, Blanche Ely, Braddock, Booker T. Washington, Calvary Christian, Cardinal Newman, Carol City, Columbus, Coral Reef, Coral Springs, Coral Springs Charter, Dillard, Douglas, Dwyer, Flanagan, Fort Lauderdale, Glades Central, Hialeah, Homestead, John I. Leonard, Jupiter Christian, Mater Academy, Miami Country Day, Miami Edison, Miami Jackson, Miami Killian, Miami Pace, Miami Springs, Miramar, Monarch, Mourning, Norland, Palm Beach Lakes, South Plantation, Stranahan, Suncoast, Taravella, University School and Vero Beach.

The winning high school team will represent South Florida and the Miami Dolphins at the 2013 HSPD National Championships in Cleveland from July 11-14. Glades Central won the national championship in 2010.
