MLB Draft: Palm Beach Central’s Ian Hagenmiller goes in 10th round

By Matt Porter

The first Palm Beach County high school senior taken in the 2013 MLB Draft was Palm Beach Central slugger Ian Hagenmiller. A 6-foot-1, 215-pound third baseman, he chosen in the 10th round (313th overall) by the Atlanta Braves.

Hagenmiller, who committed to Miami as a junior but wound up signing with Palm Beach State, said he was excited to start his pro career. According to Baseball America, the slot value (suggested signing bonus) for the 313th overall pick is $135,300. Hagenmiller expected to reach a deal soon.

I didn’t really want to go to any other organization,” he said. “They’re good, they’re close to home, and I hear they have a good minor league system.”
