LSU loses commitment from Fort Pierce Central LB Shareiff Rhaheed

By Matt Porter

It seems Shareiff Rhaheed spoke too soon.

The Fort Pierce Central senior linebacker, who committed to LSU, last weekend accompanied teammate Rashawn Shaw on a visit to Louisville. Shaw left having pledged to the Cards, and soon after returning home, Rhaheed on Monday decommitted from LSU.

After he committed to LSU in March, Rhaheed picked up a handful of big-time offers.

“I think he didn’t realize how many options he would have,” Fort Pierce Central coach Josh Shaffer said.

Now Louisville, Alabama, Ole Miss, Tennessee and Arkansas appear to be the favorites for Rhaheed, who has 17 offers. He has been to Louisville, Alabama, UCF and USF. Shaffer said the player has expressed interest in visiting Ole Miss and Arkansas soon.

“I’ve been trying to get (LSU coaches) on the phone for the past few weeks but I haven’t been able to reach them,” Rhaheed told NOLA.com. “I’m just opening things up and exploring my options. I am comfortable with my decision.”
