Soccer: Star striker Sebastian Elney enrolls at Boca

By Jeff Greer

Big news in Palm Beach County soccer: Ex-American Heritage striker Sebastian Elney has enrolled at Boca Raton.

Elney, a member of the U.S. Under-17 National Team, spent his freshman season at American Heritage. Last year he participated in the U.S. Soccer Residency Program at IMG Academy in Bradenton. Boca coach Marcelo Castillo announced Elney’s enrollment at his new school on Friday night.

“VERY happy,” Castillo tweeted.

Boca, a local and state powerhouse that won the 2010 state championship, gets a goal-scoring machine and athletic attacker in Elney, who played 33 minutes over three games this year for the U.S. team. He’s scored one goal in five appearances with the national side.
