After a fun few weeks to start the season, many schools are now preparing to start their district schedules.
Week 3 produced matchups between teams in last week’s version of the Post’s Top 10. Seminole Ridge was the only school in the top five to lose, falling to Park Vista. Dwyer continued its dominance, breezing by Palm Beach Gardens, which was also ranked in last week’s top 10. And American Heritage squeaked out a victory over Glades Central to move to 2-1 on the season.
Here’s the new Post Top 10 entering Week 4:
1. Dwyer (3-0)
2. Fort Pierce Central (2-0)
3. American Heritage (2-1)
4. Royal Palm Beach (2-0)
5. Park Vista (2-1)
6. Seminole Ridge (2-1)
7. Clewiston (2-0)
8. Boynton Beach (3-0)
9. Pahokee (2-1)
10. Glades Central (1-2)
Also considered: Palm Beach Gardens, King’s Academy, Treasure Coast, Palm Beach Central, Glades Day.
Fort Pierce Central may have had the most impressive win of Week 3. The Cobras beat state power Kissimmee Osceola despite missing some key players, moving Fort Pierce Central up one spot to No. 2 in our rankings. This spot was previously held by American Heritage, but a close and sloppy win over Glades Central has them at No. 3 this week.
Park Vista and Seminole Ridge swapped spots in the rankings, as Park Vista edged out a win against the Hawks with the help of a game-winning field goal.
Palm Beach Gardens dropped out of the rankings after a blowout loss to Dwyer, allowing Pahokee to enter the rankings at No. 9. Clewiston took the Gators’ No. 7 spot after a bye week.
Despite a 1-2 record to start the season, Glades Central is clinging on to No. 10. The Raiders have played a very tough schedule to begin the year, which helps their case. But Glades Central doesn’t have any room for error if it wants to stay in the Post’s Top 10.
Top Games This Week
Here are all of the games to look out for this week:
Cocoa at American Heritage: This is a matchup between two of the state’s best teams. Heritage’s young squad will face another early season test, which will help the Stallions moving forward.
Park Vista at Santaluces: Although Santaluces enters this game with the better record, it will be the Chiefs that will be looking at this as a statement game. Park Vista is coming off a big win against Seminole Ridge, and the Cobras should be favored in this one.
King’s Academy at Clewiston, Friday at 7:30 p.m.: This will be a fun game. Both teams enter this one with a lot to prove. Clewiston has been a surprise this season and a win against King’s Academy will further solidify its strong start.
