Dwyer, American Heritage, Glades Day in state AP poll; King’s picking up steam

By Jeff Greer

The new Associated Press high school football poll is out. The usual suspects made the cut, but a new team has the attention of the state’s newspaper writers.

King’s Academy received 14 votes in this week’s poll, pushing the Lions near a top-five ranking in the Class 3A poll ahead of their important District 7-3A showdown with Cardinal Newman on Friday. King’s beat Clewiston two weeks ago to boost its resume, which also consists of blowout wins over Coral Springs Christian and Inlet Grove and a solid win over Village Academy.

Park Vista got a vote in Class 8A, while Fort Pierce Central climbed to fifth in the top 10.

American Heritage, Glades Day and Dwyer are all still ranked in their respective class polls.
