Softball: Palm Beach Gardens IF Kelsey Lay commits to USF

By Jeff Greer

Standout Gardens sophomore Kelsey Lay picked her college this weekend.

Lay, who pitches and plays infield for state softball powerhouse Gardens, verbally committed to play at USF. The Bulls love Lay’s versatility and speed, her high school coach Randy Jackson said in the weeks leading up to her commitment.

The rising sophomore won nine games as the Gators’ No. 2 pitcher, posting a 1.90 earned-run average, but is expected to play infield for most of her high school career and once she arrives at USF. The Bulls signed former Gardens outfielder Ta’Coia Williams last fall.
