Two teams from Palm Beach County traveled to play in volleyball tournaments over the weekend. Both schools came home victorious.
No. 3 Boca Raton (17-6) went up to Orlando to take part in the “Swing for the Cure” tournament, and No. 2 Jupiter spent the weekend in Jacksonville to play in the Bolles High School Invitational. It was a fun ride home, as both came away with tournament titles.
The Bobcats’ run was impressive. Out of the 47 teams in the “Swing for the Cure” tourney, Boca Raton was ranked No. 11.
The tournament featured some of Florida’s best teams. The Bobcats faced one of them in their first match of the weekend, earning a two-set win over Winter Park — the team Boca Raton beat to win the Class 8A state title last season. Later in the tournament, the Bobcats recorded a victory over Venice — last year’s Class 7A state champions.
Junior Charlotte Earnhart led the way for Boca Raton with 44 kills and 28 digs over the weekend.
Meanwhile, in Jacksonville, Jupiter (18-2) dropped just one set to win the Bolles High School Invitational. The Warriors beat Middleburg in the finals to claim the title for the second consecutive season.
