Football: Oxbridge Academy-Palmer Trinity game canceled

By Anthony Chiang

Oxbridge Academy will have some unexpected downtime this week.

The Thunderwolves were scheduled to host Palmetto Bay-Palmer Trinity on Friday, but that game has been canceled. Oxbridge Academy athletic director Craig Sponsky said Palmer Trinity decided to cancel the game because the school did not think “they would benefit from playing a mandated conference game” against the Thunderwolves. It will count as a forfeit victory for Oxbridge Academy, improving its record to 5-2.

Oxbridge Academy and Palmer Trinity are members of the Gulf Atlantic Football Conference’s Atlantic Division.

“We’re a bit disappointed,” Sponsky said. “But people have to do what they have to do.”

Now, the Thunderwolves will have to wait until Oct. 24 to play their next game, when they host North Miami Beach-Scheck Hillel.
