JV football player in stable condition

By Anthony Chiang

An American Heritage football player is recovering at Delray Medical Center after suffering a traumatic injury during a junior varsity football game Wednesday night at Palm Beach Central High School in Wellington.

The player, which is the team’s punter, has been moved from the intensive care unit. He is now in stable condition, according to American Heritage athletic director Stacy Sizemore.

“He’s doing much better,” Sizemore said. “He’s in stable condition and he hopes to go home today or tomorrow.”

Sizemore did not know the extent of the player’s injuries, but confirmed that the punter was injured while trying to make a tackle.

“He actually got up and walked off the field after the tackle,” Sizemore said. “He got to the sideline and that’s when our trainer, who is actually his mother, decided to call EMS.”
