Jensen Beach LB Xavier Preston verbally commits to West Virginia

By Anthony Chiang

Xavier Preston has made a decision.

The Jensen Beach linebacker verbally committed to West Virginia on Thursday, choosing the Mountaineers over schools like Louisville, North Carolina State, Rutgers and South Florida. Preston (6-foot-2, 220 pounds) is the 13th-best prospect on the PBGametime recruiting Big Board.

The decision comes after Preston took a visit to West Virginia on Sept. 13. Glades Central grad and Mountaineers running backs coach JaJuan Seider helped recruit Preston.

“West Virginia has really been after him for a while,” Jensen Beach interim coach Tim Caffey said. “From what I could gather, Xavier really enjoyed his visit up there. I think he was at the point where he just wanted to get the decision made to concentrate on the rest of his senior year.”
