By Jodie Wagner

King’s Academy won its fifth consecutive state championship in competitive cheerleading Feb. 1, placing first in the 1A Small Non-Tumbling Division at the FHSAA Finals in Kissimmee.

The competition was held at Silver Spurs Arena.

The Lions scored 88.50 points to beat out runner-up Callahan-West Nassau, which scored 83.80 points. Jay was third with 82.35 points.

“I’m very proud, beyond blessed,” said King’s Academy coach Jenn Allen, who has led the program for seven years. “The cheerleaders and the families make the difference. They put in the hard work, and the coaches work well together.”

Allen took a 12-member squad plus three alternates to Kissimmee for the competition.
