Regional competition begins tonight in boys hoops

Regional competition in boys basketball begins tonight, with 19 games featuring 22 area teams scheduled to tip off at 7 p.m.

The winners move on to Tuesday’s regional semifinals.

Suncoast, Lake Worth Christian, Cardinal Newman, Wellington, Royal Palm Beach and John I. Leonard are among the host teams, each earning that opportunity by winning their district championships last week.

Here is the schedule of games:

Class 8A: Fort Pierce Central at Winter Park, Orlando-Oak Ridge at Treasure Coast, Spanish River at Wellington, Jupiter at John I. Leonard.

Class 7A: Pompano Beach-Blanche Ely at Royal Palm Beach, Atlantic at Lauderdale Lakes-Boyd Anderson, Martin County at Punta Gorda-Charlotte.

Class 6A: Boynton Beach at Jensen Beach, South Fork at Pembroke Pines Charter.

Class 5A: Plantation-American Heritage at Suncoast.

Class 4A: North Broward Prep at Cardinal Newman, Glades Central at Naples-Community School, Fort Myers-Dunbar at Lincoln Park, St. Andrew’s at Coral Springs Charter.

Class 3A: Village Academy at Melbourne-Florida Air Academy, Melbourne Central Catholic at Lake Worth Christian.

Class 2A: Davie-Posnack Day at Grandview Prep, Summit Christian at Palm Bay-Covenant Christian, Vero Beach-Master’s Academy at Berean Christian.
