Boys Soccer: Boca Raton’s Tomer Bitton wins award

By Anthony Chiang

Boca Raton’s boys soccer team fell short of a state title, but senior Tomer Bitton is still getting the recognition he deserves.

Bitton was named Florida’s Class 5A Player of the Year on Friday. The winners were selected by the state’s FACA boys’ soccer district chairmen and members of the state media.

The forward was instrumental to Boca Raton’s success last season, leading the Bobcats with 29 goals and 18 assists. Now, Bitton is one of five finalists for Florida’s Mr. Soccer award. The winner will be announced later this month.

Here is the full list of finalists for the award:

Tomer Bitton, Boca Raton, Class 5A Player of the Year
Micah Smoak, Melbourne, Class 4A Player of the Year
Remington Pimm, Sunlake, Class 3A Player of the Year
David Shafer, Bishop Moore Catholic, Class 2A Player of the Year
Reed Cawthon, First Academy, Class 1A Player of the Year
