After-school cancellations affect dozens of athletic activities

The Palm Beach County School District cancelled all after-school and evening activities today because of impending bad weather, affecting dozens of athletic events.The county is under a tornado watch until 7 p.m. tonight.

Five baseball games involving public schools, nine softball games, three boys lacrosse matches, three girls lacrosse matches, two boys weightlifting meets, four tennis matches, three flag football pre-season games and the Glades Central Invitational track meet all have been cancelled.

Trinity Christian’s baseball game against Fort Lauderdale-Westminster Academy, King’s Academy’s softball game against Cardinal Newman and Oxbridge Academy’s softball game against Trinity Christian also have been canceled.

There is no timetable for making up the missed games, Palm Beach County Athletic Administrator Yetta Greene said.
