After a particularly busy week of games post-Spring Break, Jupiter still remains on top of our poll. The Warriors (17-2) beat Seminole Ridge and No. 3 Wellington last week to run their winning streak to six. Jupiter will be tested this week, with a Monday game against district rival Palm Beach Gardens and a Thursday contest against state-ranked Plantation-American Heritage.
Park Vista, Wellington and Palm Beach Gardens held on to the Nos. 2-4 spots, while Trinity Christian moved up a spot to No. 5 after winning its 10th and 11th games.
Spanish River, Dwyer, Palm Beach Central, Boca Raton Christian and West Boca round out the top 10.
Here is a look at our top 10 this week:
- Jupiter (17-2): Warriors have won six straight
- Park Vista (17-4): Cobras on a roll
- Wellington (14-4): Tough loss to No. 1 Jupiter
- Palm Beach Gardens (12-6): Gators back on track
- Trinity Christian (11-1): Warriors perfect in March
- Spanish River (11-3): Sharks 2-1 last week
- Dwyer (11-5): Panthers unbeaten in district
- Palm Beach Central (14-6): Broncos have won 10-of-12
- Boca Raton Christian (14-6): Blazers back in poll
- West Boca Raton (11-4): Bulls fall to Spanish River
Games to watch this week:
No. 1 Jupiter at No. 4 Palm Beach Gardens, Monday, 7 p.m.: A rematch of a February game won by the Gators in a shutout, this contest promises plenty of intrigue. The Warriors are on a roll, winning six straight games, including a 14-6 rout of No. 3 Wellington. The Gators rebounded after losses to two top-ranked Broward teams, winning 2-of-3. The matchup between starters Meghan Jeffrey (Jupiter) and Bailey Whalen (Palm Beach Gardens) could be key.
No. 2 Park Vista at Seminole Ridge, Tuesday, 7 p.m.: The Hawks moved up from Class 7A to 8A this season and were placed into one of the most difficult districts in the state. Still, Seminole Ridge has held its own against state-ranked competition, including the Cobras. Park Vista beat Seminole Ridge 4-3 Feb. 6 and could be in for another tough matchup Tuesday.
No. 8 Palm Beach Central at No. 3 Wellington, Wednesday, 7 p.m.: This is the second game of the season between the teams following Wellington’s 5-1 victory Feb. 19. The Wolverines earned a quality win over No. 6 Spanish River last week but also dropped a key district matchup to No. 1 Jupiter. The Broncos took No. 4 Palm Beach Gardens to extra innings before losing 5-2 and then shut out Boca Raton. Both teams feature top-line starters in Amanda Blanchard of Palm Beach Central and Wellington’s Stephanie Schmidt.
