Boys basketball: Area players among state’s best

Source Hoops in conjunction with the Florida Association of Basketball Coaches released the last of its Boys Basketball All-State Teams on Friday.

More than a dozen area players were recognized in Classes 1A-8A, with Grandview Prep’s Jamal Palmer, Lake Worth Christian’s Jeantal Cylla, Suncoast’s LaTarence Butts, Lake Worth’s Aaron Horne and Spanish River’s Jeff Demezier leading the way as All-State First-Teamers in Classes 2A, 3A, 5A, 7A and 8A, respectively.

Area All-State players are listed below by classification.

Class 2A

First Team: Jamal Palmer, 6-3 JR, Grandview Prep. Second Team: Collin Gray, 6-2, SR, Boca Raton Christian. Third Team: Jordan Coblin, 6-1 JR, Grandview Prep;  Justen Hunter, 6-3 SR, Wellington Christian.

Class 3A

First Team: Jeantal Cylla, 6-7 JR, Lake Worth Christian. Second Team: Isaiah Hobbs, 6-4 SR, Lake Worth Christian.

Class 4A

Second Team: John Collins, 6-9 JR, West Palm Beach Cardinal Newman.

Class 5A

First Team: LaTarence Butts, 6-3 JR, Suncoast

Class 6A

Third Team: Jean Alexis, 6-3 SR, Jensen Beach

Class 7A

First Team: Aaron Horne, 6-5 SR, Lake Worth

Class 8A

First Team: Jeff Demezier, 5-10 SR, Spanish River. Second Team: Casey Southards, 5-10 JR, Boca Raton. Third Team: Maxx Bleecher, 6-2 JR, West Boca Raton

Grandview Prep's Jamal Palmer is one of five area boys basketball players name to the All-State First Team.
