The Dwyer Athletic Department has reached a four-year agreement with Under Armour to be the exclusive outfitter for the school’s varsity football team.
Beginning this fall and continuing through 2017, Panthers players and coaches will wear Under Armour sportswear exclusively during games, Athletic Director Tom Pagley said.
The school has a prior relationship with the Baltimore-based sportswear and accessories company through former Dwyer football standout Matt Elam, who has an endorsement deal with Under Armour.
Elam played linebacker, running back, safety and wide receiver at Dwyer before graduating in 2010. He played safety at the University of Florida and was drafted by the Baltimore Ravens in the first round last year.
“They approached us because of the relationship with Matt Elam and Under Armour and Dwyer,” Pagley said. “We had further discussions, and they proposed to us a continuing relationship. They wanted to be supportive. We like their brand and they like our brand, and we went forward with an agreement.”
Dwyer’s football team has worn adidas the previous two seasons and Nike for two years before that, Pagley said.
The Panthers are two-time state champions in football, having won titles in 2009 and 2013.
The school’s boys basketball team also wears Under Armour.
