Football: Eric Davis to replace Jeff Dellenbach as Boca Raton’s head coach

By Jodie Wagner

Eric Davis has replaced Jeff Dellenbach as Boca Raton’s head football coach.

In an email to the Palm Beach Post on Saturday, Boca Raton principal Geoff McKee said Dellenbach resigned Friday and ran his final practice that day.

Davis, a Palm Beach County Sheriff’s spokesman, will take over the Bobcats program on Monday, McKee wrote in the email.

Neither Dellenbach nor Davis returned phone calls to the Post on Saturday night. Boca Raton will travel to face Lake Worth on May 22 for its spring game.

In Dellenbach’s only season at the helm, the Bobcats finished with a 4-6 record and missed the playoffs in 2013.

Before arriving at Boca Raton, the 51-year-old spent two seasons at Plantation-American Heritage and won two district titles. In three seasons at Coconut Creek-North Broward Prep, Dellenbach posted a 22-11 record.

Dellenbach played at the University of Wisconsin and was a fourth-round pick of the Dolphins in 1985. He played for Miami from 1985-94 before spending two seasons with the Patriots, three with the Packers and one with the Eagles before retiring following the 1999 season.
