Daniel Parr is planning to stay close to home.
The 2015 Dwyer quarterback confirmed via text message that he verbally committed to Florida Atlantic on Friday. Parr chose the Owls over Marshall, Akron, Miami and Yale.
After receiving an offer from the Hurricanes earlier this month, Parr was scheduled to visit the University of Miami on Friday. But he canceled and decided to commit to FAU.
“The decisions been made. #owlsup2015,” Parr tweeted.
Parr was named the Palm Beach Post’s All-Area Large Schools Offensive Player of the Year as a junior after throwing for 36 touchdowns and more than 3,000 yards to lead Dwyer to its second state title. In the process, he threw just four interceptions, giving him a touchdown-to-interception ratio of nine.
“They have a great class of 2015 recruits coming in,” Parr said of FAU in a text message to the Palm Beach Post. “I really like the coaching staff, and they’re building all new facilities to go along with the new stadium.”

With Parr’s commitment, FAU has landed four verbal commitments from 2015 athletes with at least three stars next to their names. Parr (three stars) joins Fort Lauderdale-St. Thomas Aquinas running back Jordan Scarlett (four stars), St. Thomas Aquinas cornerback Rashard Causey (three stars), and South Plantation safety Rodrick Archer (three stars).
