Oxbridge Academy has named Pat Hollern as its head boys basketball coach, athletic director Craig Sponsky announced Friday.
Hollern, the school’s communications and digital media coordinator, takes over a program that finished 15-8 last season.
He has 12 years of varsity basketball coaching experience, winning more than 200 games, five district championships and three conference titles at Bishop McCort and Bishop Carroll High Schools in western Pennsylvania.
“In hiring Pat, we are adding an accomplished coach who believes in Oxbridge Academy’s educational and athletic philosophies and mission,” Sponsky said. “His dedication to academic integrity is proven through his record of helping students succeed both on and off the court.”
Hollern also served as Bishop McCort’s director of athletic development and athletics before joining Oxbridge last summer.
He looks forward to getting started with the ThunderWolves, who will enter their third varsity basketball season in 2014.
“I’m very excited,” Hollern said. “I’ve had the opportunity to work with some of the great coaches that we have here. It’s an awesome opportunity.”
District 14-3A opponents for Oxbridge this season include Lake Worth Christian, Village Academy, Coral Springs Christian, FAU, Pompano Beach-Highlands Christian, Trinity Christian and Fort Lauderdale-Westminster Academy.
