Just over a year after sustaining a major knee injury while playing in a travel basketball game, Dwyer guard Jalen Huff is drawing attention from college coaches.

Huff, a rising senior, received offers from Stetson and Florida A&M this week and hopes more will come as he embarks on his final season with the Panthers.

“I’m very excited,” he said of the attention he’s been receiving. “It doesn’t matter where I go.”

Last summer, Huff’s future was far from certain.

He tore his anterior cruciate ligament in June 2013 during a game with his Jupiter Jaguars travel basketball team and spent more than six months rehabilitating the injury.

He missed his junior season with Dwyer – as a sophomore in 2012-13 he averaged 4.9 points and 3.6 rebounds – and did not begin playing competitive basketball until May, nearly a year after the injury.

However Huff is healthy now and looks forward to a solid season with the Panthers this year and a bright future in college.

“I really love my team,” he said of Dwyer. “They helped me out last year. Hopefully we can win states this year.”
