By Jodie Wagner

King’s Academy softball coach Tim Willcox said Wednesday he has stepped down from the position he has held for five years.

Willcox, who cited personal reasons for his decision, finishes his tenure at the school with a 78-46-3 record.

His Lions won two district and two regional championships during his five seasons as varsity coach and advanced to the state semifinals twice.

Last season King’s finished 15-7 and finished as district runner-up.

“I set a goal early on to get to state,” said Willcox, who will continue to teach and coach football and basketball at the school. “Just looking back, that state run was good for the players.

“We have a lot of great girls. That’s the part I’ll miss the most. Wins and losses will come, but the memories for me are the big thing.”

The school is seeking a replacement, Willcox said.
