Baseball: Park Vista P Austin Smith named to 2014 18U National Team

Park Vista’s Austin Smith is following up a stellar junior season with a pretty special offseason.

The Palm Beach Post’s 2014 Large Schools Player of the Year was named to the 20-man roster for the 2014 18U National Team, which will compete in the COPABE Pan American Championship in Mexico in September.

Smith is the only player from Palm Beach County on the roster. Only three players from Florida made the team.

Smith turned in a stellar junior season, leading the Cobras to their first state tournament berth since 2011 with a 12-1 record on the mound and a .425 average at the plate.
