American Heritage — Nick Rubinowicz. An All-Area First Team punter/kicker for the Stallions’ football team, he also maintained a 4.81 honors-point average and earned an AP Scholar with Honor award. He will play football at the University of Maryland.
Benjamin — Savannah Logan. A multi-sport athlete who set a school record by earning 19 varsity letters, she also was a member of the National Honor Society and Cum Laude Society, maintained a 4.09 honors-point average, and took nine advanced placement courses. The 2015 Major League Baseball Draft finally came to a close Wednesday.
After 1,215 total picks over 40 rounds and three days, nine high school players from Palm Beach County were drafted. Six of the players were selected Wednesday.
Over the first two days, three Palm Beach County high school players had been drafted headlined by Royal Palm Beach pitcher Triston McKenzie and Park Vista pitcher Austin Smith, who were both selected on Day 1 of the draft Monday. (Read more about Day 1 here) [More]

The second day of the 2015 Major League Baseball Draft brought more good news to Palm Beach County.
A pair of local high school pitchers were drafted on the first day, as Royal Palm Beach right-hander Triston McKenzie was taken by the Cleveland Indians with the 42nd overall pick in the Competitive Balance Round A and Park Vista right-hander Austin Smith was taken by the San Diego Padres with the 51st overall pick in the second round of the draft Monday. Park Vista hovered around the top of the MaxPreps Xcellent 50 National Baseball Rankings throughout the season, but that changed this week.
After falling to Miami Columbus in a Class 8A state semifinal this past Wednesday, the Cobras dropped from No. 2 to No. 26 in the latest version of the national poll released Monday. Park Vista finished with a 28-3 record and lost in the same semifinals for the second consecutive season. [More]
