Girls basketball: Seven schools make top 10 in latest state poll

Seven county schools were ranked in the latest Florida Association of Basketball Coaches / Source Hoops girls basketball rankings, which were released Tuesday.

Boca Raton and Cardinal Newman remain the two top Palm Beach County teams, ranking second in Class 8A and 4A, respectively. Class 4A remains a strong suit for the county, as St. Andrew’s (fourth) and Oxbridge Academy (eighth) also rank in the top 10. Reigning state champion Palm Beach Lakes sits at eighth in Class 7A, Benjamin is No. 7 in Class 3A and Pahokee rounds out the ranked Palm Beach County teams in the ninth spot in [More]

It’s a new year, and there’s a new girls basketball top 10 to ring it in.

The Crusaders have reeled off nine straight wins and are one of two one-loss teams in the top 10. The previous No. 1 team, Boca Raton (which held the top spot since the first rankings were released on Nov. 30), falls three spots to No. 4 after dropping three games during the winter break. However, their fall is equally due to their losses and other teams’ wins.

Girls hoops: Boca holds top spot, Cardinal Newman drops Lake Worth in the Post Top 10

Boca Raton and Cardinal Newman maintained the hot streaks that put them on top of the Post Top 10 in their games this week.

The Bobcats dismantled Santaluces in their only game last week, and the Crusaders defeated Inlet Grove and No. 3 Lake Worth, beating the latter team by 20 points to split the season series. The Trojans move down one spot due to the loss, with surging Palm Beach Lakes moving up to take their spot.
