Bomb threat forces Palm Beach Central to cancel practice, move district tournament volleyball match

Palm Beach Central’s football team canceled practice Tuesday afternoon after the school was evacuated due to a bomb threat made against the school earlier in the day.

“(They are) just getting kids on the campus evacuated, that’s all I know,” coach Tino Ierulli said.

Palm Beach Central, which has not won a game this season, plays winless Jupiter on Thursday.

“Obviously,the kids’ safety and stuff is first and foremost,” Ierulli said. “We pretty much know exactly what the game plan is going into Thursday night.”

Top-10 wins and losses led to significant movement inside the rankings this week.

After dropping all the way to No. 2, Boca Raton is back in the top spot after a pair of wins. Meanwhile, formerly top-ranked Jupiter drops to third after losing to Martin County while Lake Worth Christian rolled to its 15th straight victory. Atlantic held serve at the fourth spot, but Benjamin jumped from eighth to fifth as other teams moved around it. Volleyball: A new top 10 entering Week 7

After another week of matches, the top 10 sees a change at the top.

The Warriors move to the top spot this week after taking down last week’s No. 1, Boca Raton, in five sets. The Bobcats move down a single spot after the close loss to another top team. Lake Worth Christian moves up to No. 3 as it continues to surge, taking the spot from Atlantic, which drops a spot after losing to the Bobcats. American Heritage, Oxbridge, Palm Beach Gardens, Benjamin and Park Vista stick in the top 10, and Wellington re-enters after winning its last two matches.

Several top volleyball teams fell in Week 3, taking their first loss or more.

Boca Raton stays at No. 1 despite dropping its first game of the season, while Atlantic — the only undefeated team left in the Top 2 — moves to No. 2. Oxbridge Academy jumps to No. 4, and John I. Leonard moves up to No. 6. In Wellington, the Wolverines drop to No. 9 after losing three of their last four games.

New to the top 10 are American Heritage and Seminole Ridge, which enter at Nos. 8 and 10, respectively.
