Dozens of area wrestling teams will compete in regional competition today and Saturday.
Eight schools around the state are hosting regional meets. Local wrestlers will be competing at Martin County High School (Class 3A, Region 3); Jensen Beach High School (Class 2A, Region 4); and Fort Lauderdale-Cardinal Gibbons (Class 1A, Region 4).
Meets began today at 10 a.m. with the weigh-in. First- and second-round action starts at noon.
Saturday’s schedule includes the weigh-in at 8 a.m., semifinals at 10 a.m., third- and fourth-round action at 12:30 p.m. and consolation/championship finals at 6 p.m.

Mosquitoes nipped at Cre’Von LeBlanc’s calves and arms as he told his story in the Belle Glade night. He was a junior defensive back at Glades Central, and he’d watched his father pass away right in front of him eight months earlier. The practice field around us was empty, save for the mosquitoes so large and hungry I’d questioned my decision to move to South Florida to cover high school sports and college recruiting for the Palm Beach Post.
